To make your Christmas party a thorough success, there's nothing like having plenty of variety. We hope you'll have a great Christmas party with these games! Many would be suitable for parties anytime throughout the year so we hope you'll find other opportunities to play them too. |
PIN THE NOSE ON RUDOLPHDraw and colour a picture of a reindeer, minus its nose, on a large sheet of paper, such as newsprint. Tape the paper to a wall so the centre is at about shoulder height for the players. Cut circles out of red construction paper to represent Rudolph's nose. Set up a starting line about 6 feet away from Rudolph's picture. Distribute a "nose" to each of the players and have them write their name on it. Blindfold the first player, then turn them around 3 times and face them toward Rudolph's picture on the wall. The first place the player touches is where you must tape their "nose".
When every player has placed their "nose", you may have to measure to see who the winner is… or you may not.
PUSS IN THE CORNERIn this game, all the players pretend to be mice, except one, who is the cat. The cat stands in the middle of the room. Each mouse stands in a corner and while there, the cat can't touch them. But when they move across the room to change corners with one another, the cat may capture the mice. No mouse should venture from a corner until he/she has made signs to another mouse with whom he/she would like to change corners or that little mouse may find him or herself halfway across the room with no corner to run to.
The mouse that is caught must now become the cat.
SANTA SAYSA popular party game 100 years ago was called Simon Says - let's play it at Christmas! One player is "Santa" and stands facing all the other players. Explain to the group that you are two people - one is called Santa and when Santa tells them to do something, they must do it. But when you tell them to something, they mustn't follow your instructions. Now Santa tells the group to clap your hands, touch your toes, or turn in a circle by saying "Santa says clap your hands" or "Santa says touch your toes", or "Santa says turn in a circle". As the group follows your instructions, give the command "Touch your nose". All players who touch their nose are eliminated because Santa didn't give the order. Plays who don't follow commands preceded by "Santa says" are also out.
The last player to remain in the game is the winner.
SANTA'S BEARDDraw a large Santa head on a piece of cardboard or heavy construction paper, then cut a large hole in the centre for his mouth. Colour Santa with poster paints or crayons. Using absorbent cotton, form 6 balls about the size of a tennis ball. Prop the Santa head on a low table or chair and mark a throwing line 4 to 6 feet away with tape. Have the players line up on the other side of the tape so that each can take a turn throwing the cotton balls.
The goal is to throw the cotton balls into Santa's mouth. Allow two rounds for all players. The player who has the highest score wins.
